What is Holistic Healing?As the world grows smaller, practitioners of the great healing traditions have begun to share their knowledge. We are just beginning to reap the benefits in the form of holistic healing. Holistic healing integrates the modalities of the different systems to develop a new level of health care. We are coming to understand that such things as nutrition, exercise, stress, social interactions, the environment and our identity (or lack of identity) with a larger consciousness or higher universal power all affect our helath and well being. Holistic healing looks at the whole person, not just the physical part. The patient also plays an active role in developing a health plan, working alongside the health care practitioner. Instead of western medicine's traditional focus on drugs, surgery and high tech, a typical holisitc healing plan may include such things as massage, homeopathics, acupuncture, reiki, tai chi, herbs, reflexology, meditation, flower essences, yoga and many others. Each offers its own special benefits when used at the proper time and in the right way . Combinations designed to fit the individual patient's constitution, symptoms and lifestyle result in a whole new level of health and well being. By working on physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual levels, holistic healing and transformation are made possible.
